Generally, you can place your bird house which ever direction you like, however, you should always place the bird house entrance in such a way so as to avoid overheating it via direct sunlight. You don’t want a direct sunlight to be shining straight in your face when you wake up right ? So take note where the sun rises and sets on your backyard before locating the new bird house. Also, keep the bird house high enough so as to avoid any predators like cats and coyote from attacking the nesting birds inside your bird house.
Also, you should not block the entrance to the bird house. Do facilitate a clear passage of way to the entrance hole of your bird house. Find a unique yet functional bird house for your birds by choosing a bird house that does not block the entrance hole so your birds can easily move in and out of the bird house. This also greatly increases your bird house attracting the species of bird you want to be nesting in your own backyard bird house. Although you should take caution not to block the entrance hole, you should also take note of the birdhouse opening sizes that you have created for your birdhouses. They should be just nice for the species of birds you want to attract to enter and exit the birdhouses and should not be so big as predators may enter the decorative birdhouse.
In this way, your decorative bird house provides functional shelter the nesting birds and also beautiful and unique decor for you in your own backyard which adds to the beauty of your house. I mean, how nice would it for you or your guest to glance to your backyard and find a multitude of different species of birds with different colours in your garden.
